PHAN CHAU TRINH UNIVERSITY APPROVED BY ECFMG

Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) has officially been approved by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), marking a significant milestone in the university’s journey of medical education. As a result, through the Sponsor Note in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), PCTU’s medical students are now eligible to apply for medical practice in the United States and Canada. This achievement highlights the university’s commitment to internationalization and opens up global career and professional development opportunities for its students.

ECFMG is a member of Intealth, an integrated organization that also includes the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER®). Since its establishment in 1956, ECFMG has earned a global reputation for evaluating and certifying international medical graduates (IMGs)—those who have earned their medical degrees outside of the U.S. ECFMG ensures these graduates meet the standards necessary to practice medicine in the U.S. and other countries.

Additionally, ECFMG certification is a mandatory requirement for IMGs to take Step 3 of the USMLE® (United States Medical Licensing Examination), and is essential for obtaining an unrestricted medical license in the United States.
