CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP (CSC)
Scholarships

FULLY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY IN CHINA

1. Program Overview

The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) is a fully funded scholarship program established by the Ministry of Education of China and administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

The program aims to:

  • Strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between China and other countries
  • Promote international cooperation in education, science, and research
  • Support outstanding international students and scholars to study or conduct research in China

CSC supports Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral degrees, as well as short-term research and exchange programs, through various bilateral, university-based, and designated programs.

2. Scholarship Coverage (Full Scholarship – Type A)

Successful applicants receive comprehensive financial support, including:

✅ Full tuition waiver
✅ Free on-campus accommodation or housing allowance
✅ Monthly living stipend

  • Undergraduate: CNY 2,500/month
  • Master’s / General Scholar: CNY 3,000/month
  • PhD / Senior Scholar: CNY 3,500/month
    ✅ Comprehensive medical insurance
  • CNY 800/year (programs over 6 months)

3. Available Study Programs

  • 🎓 Bachelor’s Degree
  • 🎓 Master’s Degree
  • 🎓 Doctoral Degree
  • 🔬 General Scholar & Senior Scholar (research / academic exchange)

Fields of study include:
Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Economics, Law, Management, Education, Humanities, Arts, and more
(Chinese language study excluded in some programs)

4. Scholarship Categories

🔹 (I) Bilateral Program

  • Based on agreements between China and foreign governments or institutions
  • Open to undergraduates, postgraduates, and scholars
  • Apply through: Government agencies or embassies in the applicant’s home country

🔹 (II) University Program

  • For outstanding students recommended by designated Chinese universities
  • Apply directly through Chinese universities

🔹 (III) Designated Scholarship Programs

  • Joint programs with international organizations (UNESCO, EU, ASEAN, etc.)
  • Examples:
    • Great Wall Program (UNESCO)
    • EU Program
    • ASEAN University Network (AUN) Program
    • Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Program

🔹 (IV) Student Exchange Program

  • Short-term (up to 12 months) academic or research exchange
  • Apply through partner universities

5. General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a non-Chinese citizen
  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Meet age requirements:
    • Undergraduate: under 25
    • Master’s: under 35
    • PhD: under 40
    • General Scholar: under 45
    • Senior Scholar: under 50
  • Meet language requirements:
    • Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 3–4 (depending on level)
    • English-taught programs: IELTS / TOEFL or proof of previous English instruction
  • Not hold other Chinese government scholarships

6. Application Process (CSC Scholarship)

1️⃣   Choose a CSC program, university, and major
2️⃣   Contact the Chinese university for pre-admission documents
3️⃣   Apply through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System

5️⃣   Application is reviewed by:

  • Receiving agency
  • Chinese universities
  • China Scholarship Council (CSC)
    6️⃣    Final results are officially announced by CSC

7. Required Application Documents (Summary)

  • CSC Online Application Form
  • Passport (valid for at least 12 months)
  • Highest diploma & academic transcripts (notarized)
  • Language certificates (HSK / IELTS / TOEFL)
  • Study or research plan
  • Two recommendation letters (for postgraduate & scholar applicants)
  • Pre-admission letter from Chinese university
  • Physical examination form (if study > 6 months)
  • Police clearance certificate

8. Application Timeline

📌 Deadlines vary by program and country
📌 Usually between December and April
⚠️ Strict deadlines – late applications are not accepted
