PCTU Presents Research at the Global Health Security Conference 2024 in Sydney, Australia
From June 18–21, 2024, the Global Health Security Conference 2024 (GHS2024)—one of the world’s premier forums on global health security—took place in Sydney, Australia, bringing together thousands of experts, researchers, and policymakers from over 100 countries.

The Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) delegation, represented by Dr. Nguyen Xuan Huong and Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Trinh, proudly participated in the conference on behalf of the University’s Center for Scientific Research and International Collaboration (CRIC) and its affiliated hospital network. Early images from Sydney marked the growing international presence of PCTU in global scientific arenas.

At GHS2024, the PCTU research team presented the study:
Towards ASEAN Health Union: Hospital Partnerships in the Vietnam–Cambodia Border
, a collaborative project between:
- CRIC – Phan Chau Trinh University, Vietnam; and
- Dr. Connie Gan Cai Ru – Griffith University, Australia, who also serves as an Advisor for the WHO Health Development Centre.
The study was conducted at PCTU’s partner hospitals in Dong Thap Province.
Notably, according to the GHS2024 Scientific Committee, the study surpassed more than 2,000 abstract submissions worldwide and was selected among the top 19% for oral presentation—highlighting its scientific merit and regional relevance.
This mission to Sydney plays a vital role in PCTU’s long-term development strategy:
- Expanding global partnerships in public health and health security.
- Strengthening PCTU’s reputation in ASEAN-focused research.
- Exploring opportunities for academic and research exchanges with Griffith University and international organizations attending GHS2024.
- Showcasing PCTU’s integrated model of university–institute–hospital collaboration to the international community.
The study presented at the conference was built upon the foundational visit by Griffith University to PCTU on June 28, 2023, which initiated this ongoing collaborative research project.
The active contribution of PCTU at GHS2024 demonstrates the University’s commitment to:
- Advancing scientific research capacity,
- Promoting international cooperation, and
- Positioning itself as a regional leader in medical education and research.
PCTU remains dedicated to addressing global health challenges, particularly as ASEAN moves toward the vision of an “ASEAN Health Union.”
