INSTITUTE–UNIVERSITY SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE 2024: PCTU STRENGTHENS ITS ROLE IN CONNECTING AND ADVANCING MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE on 29 August 2024
The Institute–University Scientific Conference 2024, hosted by Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU), concluded successfully with nearly 300 participants from hospitals, universities, and biomedical research institutes across Vietnam. This annual flagship event was held with the goal of fostering academic collaboration, promoting scientific research, and advancing modern medical knowledge, contributing to the overall development of Vietnam’s healthcare system.




The conference received nearly 100 submissions, including 49 research presentations and 30 posters delivered across nine thematic sessions. In addition to contributions from PCTU faculty and physicians within the Phan Chau Trinh–Tam Tri Healthcare System, the event welcomed numerous experts from:
- Ministry of Health
- Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy
- Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine
- University of Science – VNU Ho Chi Minh City
- Phenikaa University
- Vo Truong Toan University
- Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy
- Dong Thap University, Tay Nguyen University, Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology
- Vietnam Institute for Clinical Microbiology Research & Development
- Gene Solutions – Medical Genetics Institute
- Cho Ray Hospital, Children’s Hospital Ho Chi Minh City, C Danang Hospital, Danang Oncology Hospital, Vinh Duc Hospital, and others.
The broad participation of leading medical institutions underscored PCTU’s academic credibility and its growing influence within the biomedical research community.
The plenary session, themed “The Future of Medicine,” featured five keynote presentations from nationally recognized leaders:
- Prof. Tran Diep Tuan, Chairman, University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Innovations in Medical Education.
- Assoc. Prof. Le Cu Linh, Vice Dean, College of Health Sciences – VinUniversity: International Experience in Medical Education.
- Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Phuc, Director, Stem Cell Institute – VNU HCM: Cell Therapy as a Breakthrough Treatment Modality.
- Mr. Truong Quoc Hung, Founder & CEO, VinBrain: Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of 21st Century Medicine.
- Dr. Le Thanh Hung, Children’s Hospital 1: Achievements in Urogenital Reconstruction in the Separation Surgery of Conjoined Twins.
These presentations offered forward-looking perspectives on medical training, clinical advancements, biomedical technologies, and the transformative impact of artificial intelligence.
The conference presentations focused on four major pillars:
- The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in diagnostics and treatment.
- Cutting-edge biomedical technologies, including stem cells and regenerative medicine.
- Advances in clinical practice across multiple specialties.
- Public health and community-based healthcare approaches.
These topics align with PCTU’s strategic priorities, reflecting the university’s vision to become a leading center for advanced medical education and biomedical research in Central Vietnam.
During the event, PCTU formally donated 5 billion VND to the Vietnam Association for Medical Education, supporting national initiatives in faculty development, competency-based training, and modernization of medical education.

This contribution demonstrates PCTU’s long-term commitment to partnering with the Ministry of Health and other institutions to enhance the quality of Vietnam’s healthcare workforce.
The Institute–University Scientific Conference 2024 provided a prestigious academic platform where PCTU served as a central hub connecting universities, hospitals, and research institutions nationwide. The event not only affirmed PCTU’s growing role in scientific research and medical training but also laid the groundwork for new collaborations—all aimed at advancing Vietnamese medicine and improving the health of the community.
