PCTU DELEGATION EXPLORES TRAINING AND COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITIES AT TAMARACK HEALTH, WISCONSIN ON SEPTEMBER 30 AND OCTOBER 1, 2025
As part of our ongoing efforts to expand international clinical training opportunities and strengthen global partnerships, a delegation from Phan Chau Trinh University conducted a two-day working visit to Tamarack Health in Hayward, Wisconsin, on September 30 and October 1, 2025. The visit aimed to support PCTU medical students beginning their clinical rotations and to assess the potential for future collaborative activities with the health system.
Our team conducted a one-day visit to Tamarack Health Center with two primary objectives:
● To deliver two (2) visiting medical students commencing their month-long clinical observership at the Center; and
● To explore potential opportunities for collaborative clinical research.

On September 30, the delegation:
● Met with Amy Suzan, HR Assistant, in charge of observerships and clinical training for healthcare students.
● Discussed current and future opportunities for PCTU medical students. Toured the hospital and clinic facilities. Met Dr. Karlye who the students will be shadowing on this rotation and joined her for lunch. Discussed the clinical preferences of the students and created a schedule for their rotation with HR.
● The delegation visited the hospital campus, the physical therapy department, and the cafeteria.

The reception extended to our medical students was exceptionally warm and accommodating. We are confident that their rotation will provide a valuable experience, contributing positively to both their professional growth and personal development.
However, based on our discussions with the supervising physician and our local liaison, Mrs. Mitchel Carol, it was determined that the scope for meaningful research collaboration is currently limited. Tamarack Health Center’s focus on family medicine, preventive care, and elderly patient management, coupled with the relatively small local population, constrains the availability of suitable research subjects and study designs. Consequently, no immediate research topics of mutual interest were identified during this visit.
The visit to Tamarack Health marks another meaningful step toward expanding PCTU’s international clinical training network. Although research collaboration opportunities remain limited at this time, the strong support for student observerships presents a valuable pathway for continued cooperation. Moving forward, PCTU will work closely with Tamarack Health to refine future training schedules and ensure ongoing support for our medical students as they gain exposure to U.S. healthcare environments.
