AUSTRALIA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
FULL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN AUSTRALIA FOR VIETNAMESE STUDENTS
(INTAKE 2026)
1. Overview
Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term scholarships funded and administered by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The program aims to support human resource development in Australia’s partner countries, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, including Vietnam.
The scholarships provide opportunities for eligible candidates to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at leading Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.
2. Eligible Applicants & Levels of Study
- Vietnamese citizens
- Full-time study in Australia
- Levels of study:
- 🎓 Undergraduate
- 🎓 Postgraduate (Master’s programs)
- Fields of study must align with Vietnam’s national development priority areas
3. Scholarship Benefits (Fully Funded)
Recipients of Australia Awards Scholarships will receive:
✅ Full tuition fees
✅ Return economy-class airfare between Vietnam and Australia
✅ Establishment allowance (to support accommodation, textbooks, and study materials)
✅ Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) paid fortnightly
✅ Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the scholarship
✅ Introductory Academic Program (IAP) prior to the commencement of studies
✅ Pre-course English (PCE) training (if required), in-country and/or in Australia
✅ Supplementary academic support to ensure academic success
✅ Fieldwork support (for eligible research components)
4. Award Conditions
- Successful applicants must sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia
- Scholars are required to leave Australia for a minimum of two (2) years after completing their studies to contribute to their home country
⚠️ Failure to comply will result in the scholar being required to repay the full cost of the scholarship

6. Participating Institutions
Scholars may study at over 50 prestigious Australian universities and TAFE institutions, including but not limited to:
- The University of Melbourne
- Australian National University
- The University of Sydney
- Monash University
- The University of Queensland
- UNSW Sydney
- RMIT University
- Deakin University
- Griffith University
- Curtin University
- TAFE NSW, TAFE Queensland, TAFE SA, and other approved institutions
👉 All institutions are officially recognized under the Australia Awards program.
7. Vietnam-Specific Information – Intake 2026
- From 2026, Vietnam will receive additional Australia Awards Scholarships, funded through the Mekong–Australia Partnership (MAP)
- These scholarships support Australia’s development assistance in Vietnam by:
- Promoting economic growth
- Reducing poverty
- Enhancing regional stability and cooperation

8. How to Apply
🔹 Before Applying:
- Check eligibility requirements, priority fields, and application deadlines for Vietnam
- Carefully read the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook (https://www.dfat.gov.au/about-us/publications/australia-awards-scholarships-policy-handbook)
- Confirm whether applications are submitted online or by hard copy
🔹 Applying Online:
- Apply via the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS) (https://oasis.dfat.gov.au/)
- Applicants may save a draft application and update it before the closing date
- ⚠️ Once submitted, applications cannot be amended
🔹 Applying by Mail:
- Available for applicants who cannot apply online
- Hard copy applications must be submitted by the specified deadline
9. Important Notes
❌ Australia Awards Scholarships are not available for:
- Applicants intending to migrate or holding Australian permanent residency
- Fields of study related to:
- Pilot training / flying aircraft
- Nuclear technology
- Military training
