STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN PHAN CHAU TRINH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND THE UNITED LINCOLNSHIRE TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS TRUST (UK)
Inward Visits

On March 28, 2025, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) had the honor of welcoming two pediatric specialists from the United Kingdom: Dr. Tushar Banerjee and Dr. Antima Banerjee, currently working at the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT). Their visit holds significant importance, marking a new milestone in the university’s journey to expand international cooperation.

During the working session, both sides focused on discussing key long-term collaboration initiatives, with particular emphasis on the following areas:

  1. International Medical Student Exchange Program

The two doctors introduced the clinical training model at ULHT and discussed the possibility of receiving medical students from PCTU for clinical placements. This program would allow students to experience clinical rotations within an NHS-standard hospital environment, thereby strengthening their clinical skills, enhancing cross-cultural communication, and improving clinical reasoning based on UK medical standards.

  1. Development of Remote Teaching and Specialized Clinical Training

The delegation also proposed establishing an academic connection between the two institutions through online teaching, case discussions, and remote clinical training. Notably, pediatrics was identified as a key area for collaboration in supporting the training of resident doctors, specialists, and early-career physicians in Vietnam who wish to gain exposure to international treatment approaches.

The meeting took place in an open and academically engaging atmosphere, laying a strong foundation for future collaborative programs. Following the discussion, the visiting doctors toured the PCTU Simulation Hospital, which replicates a modern clinical environment equipped with advanced simulators, medical devices, and internationally standardized training rooms. The guests expressed strong appreciation for the university’s training infrastructure, recognizing the Simulation Hospital as one of the key strengths in Vietnam’s clinical training landscape.

The doctors also acknowledged PCTU’s professionalism, open-mindedness, and commitment to global integration—qualities that form a solid basis for deeper and more specialized collaborative initiatives in the future.

This event not only expands PCTU’s international partnership network but also contributes to enhancing the quality of healthcare workforce training in Vietnam. The university extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Tushar Banerjee and Dr. Antima Banerjee for their valuable time and collaboration. We look forward to further strengthening the partnership between the two institutions, with the shared goal of contributing meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare education both regionally and globally.
